Our research focuses on user experience and performance, and the impact of the environment on people. We also test for the outcomes expected from and intended by facility planning. The outcomes measured may be broad, such as determining the return on investment value of a facility as it relates to human outcomes; or they may be focused, such as evaluating a material, object, equipment or process that is designed to provide specific benefits. Past research results have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences.
Recent studies include:
The influence of sustainable design on employees and organizational effectiveness
Strategies to reduce sound levels and ergonomic discomfort while increasing safety and patient satisfaction in acute care environments
Cost implications of falls for senior living environments
Life-cycle cost analysis of flooring materials
